Help wanted – a local cartoonist

Sometimes a picture can tell a story better than words. And so it is with editorial cartoons.

For that reason, the Herald-Guide is looking for a local cartoonist who is familiar with the area and what goes on here. His subjects can be about matters of government, schools, businesses, entertainment, politics or any others that have local significance.

We have run cartoons in the past but from out-of-parish artists. They were also published in many out-of-parish newspapers.

They put their points across in good style but we wish to concentrate mostly on local subjects in our local newspaper. We will divert and cover topics of state or national interest on occasion because, after all, they are important to local people, too.

But our main purpose is to tell people about what is going on in St. Charles Parish, through the news, advertising, editorials, pictures and, hopefully, cartoons. If you know someone who may do that for us, send that person over.

It won’t interrupt his full time job. And he may enjoy exercising his imagination about what is going on here at home.

And it could certainly add a new dimension to the publication of your home-town newspaper.
