Suspect captured in attempted kidnapping in Boutte

A man who is believed to have attempted to kidnap a 17-year-old girl from a Boutte parking lot at gunpoint has been captured.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Devin D. Donald, 21, of Reserve, was captured last night around 10 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Parish a little over five hours after a bulletin went out seeking him in connection with the crime.

Donald is the suspect in an attempted kidnapping that took place in the parking lot of a Boutte nail salon on Saturday.

According to the Sherriff’s Office, the victim told police that she was waiting for a ride outside of a nail salon on Highway 90 when she was approached by Donald, who was carrying a gun. Donald reportedly grabbed the teen and tried to force her into his car at gunpoint.

The teen was able to escape and ran to a nearby gas station, where she called 911.
