Arrest made in Saturday’s Hahnville shooting

Corey Lee Labranch, Jr., a 21-year-old Hahnville resident, was arrested today (June 12) and booked with aggravated second-degree battery in connection to a shooting in Hahnville yesterday (June 11).

Labranch was also charged with an outstanding 29th JDC attachment. He has been booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff Champagne reported that just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, deputies with the sheriff’s office were dispatched to the report of a father and son arguing at a residence in the 200 block of Shaw Street in Hahnville.

“While deputies were enroute, the caller advised one of the subjects had been shot in the back,” a sheriff’s office press release stated. “When deputies arrived at the residence they located Brandon Johnson, a 44-year-old male from the Edgard area, with a gunshot wound to the lower back. Mr. Johnson was transported to a local area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Mr. Johnson is in stable condition.”

The release stated that through the investigation, detectives learned that Johnson and his stepson Labranch were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical.

“Brandon Johnson advised he heard a gunshot and then saw a firearm fall to the floor,” the release stated. “Mr. Johnson left the residence to seek medical help when he realized he had been shot.”

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Charles Floyd with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at cfloyd@stcharlessheriff.org, 98-783-6807, or 985-783-1135.
