36-year employee loves family atmosphere of Majoria’s Supermarket

Family is a word often invoked when discussing Majoria’s Supermarket in Boutte — the business is family-owned, to start, and has been a staple in the local community for years. So perhaps it’s no surprise that Anne Braun calls her co-workers and employers family, and they consider her the same in kind. Braun is Majoria’s longest tenured employee, her 36-year run at the store seeing her work her way up from cashier to her current position helping to head the market’s meat department.

“I’ve been here for 36 years and I know everybody,” Braun said with a smile. “We’ve had customers coming here year after year after year. I’ve seen them for generations. I know so many of them by their faces and a lot of them by name.”

Braun has been a constant with the store, working in the meat department for the past 16 years, ensuring prices are correct and the best and freshest products are on display.

Majoria’s owner Dana Majoria had nothing but great things to say about Braun.

“This is the only job she’s ever had, and she’s been just a fantastic employee,” Majoria said. “She’s just an ace employee. She’s part of the family, for sure.”

Among the traits that Majoria said Braun brings to the table are dedication, honesty and loyalty.

“She’s stuck with us through thick and thin,” Majoria said. “She’s a driving force. Anne’s an A-plus person and an A-plus employee.”

Likewise, Braun, a Des Allemands native and resident,  said she couldn’t ask for better treatment from the Majorias.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” she said. “They treat me well here.”
