Rosalind Carpenter Eiswirth

Rosalind Carpenter Eiswirth 1943–2026

Rosalind Carpenter Eiswirth, known lovingly by family and friends as “Roz” and “Nana”, passed away peacefully at home in West Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday, February 26. She was surrounded by her loving husband Daniel Eiswirth and family after her courageous battle with cancer.

Roz was born on November 7, 1943 to her late parents Nellie Gautreaux Carpenter and Alex J. Carpenter in Gretna, Louisiana. It was at a wedding where she met Dan, the love of her life (and possibly fibbed a little about her age). Excited to start their new lives together, Dan and Roz were married in 1964 in Gretna.

With Dan’s career moving them to several locations across Louisiana, Mississippi and California, there was always a sense of adventure in finding new homes and towns to live in. They were eager to start a family and welcomed Scott Eiswirth in 1965, Sue Eiswirth McGraw in 1970 and Stephanie Eiswirth Templet in 1971.

Roz truly loved and celebrated her bounty of grandchildren, and treasured shared moments with them, she loved being their Nana. Her grandchildren Alexis McGraw Rowland, Austin Templet, Joshua Eiswirth, Dani Templet, Samantha Eiswirth and Bailey McGraw Greer and great-grandchildren Brynlee Greer, Winter, Maeve, and Ezekiel Rowland were never far from her thoughts.

Everyone who knew Roz knew how much she enjoyed her pastimes -Baking bread, RV camping, succulents, and stained glass were all close to her heart as she poured her energy into each passion project and activity. The close friendships she gained from RV groups and most recently, Glassy Ladies Stained Glass were very important to her.

Roz was preceded in death by her late parents Alex and Nellie Gautreaux Carpenter. She is survived by her loving husband Dan Eiswirth, her brother Gerald “Jay” Carpenter (Millie) and her children Scott Eiswirth (Melissa), Susan Eiswirth McGraw (Jeff) and Stephanie Eiswirth Templet (Steve) and her grandchildren Alexis Rowland (Ben), Austin Templet, Joshua Eiswirth (Audrey), Dani Templet, Samantha Eiswirth and Bailey Greer (Rylen) and great-grandchildren Brynlee Greer, Winter, Maeve, and Ezekiel Rowland.

Our family couldn’t have asked for a better wife, sister, mother and Nana and she will be missed every day. Her memory will live in the hearts of all who loved and knew her.

A celebration of life will be scheduled by the family at a later date. Any donations in her name to the American Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
