Morris Zeringue, 74, a native and resident of Ama, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
He is survived by his son, Beau Zeringue (Nicole); grandchildren, Molly and Remy; brothers, Marion and Steve Zeringue and sisters, Dora “Dolly” Landry, Theresa Petit, Lorraine Landry, Julia Daigle, Jill Cantrelle and Dawn Pintado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Landry Zeringue; his parents, Placide and Dora S. Zeringue; brother, Vernon Zeringue and sisters, Diana Zeringue and Judy Zeringue Boudreaux.
Morris spent his life working hard whether it be building houses, growing a garden or just helping other people. His favorite thing to do was to hunt with fishing coming in a close second. He spent 20 years working for the St. Charles Parish recreation department building and maintaining a place for the residents of the parish to play sports and exercise. In 2017 he was diagnosed with heart failure and received a Left Ventricle Assist Device (LVAD). With this device in place he continued to grow a garden and often ended up giving away most of the vegetables that he grew to anyone who wanted them. The device helped him to spend six and a half years surrounded by the people he loved.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero LA beginning at 6:00 PM and lasting until 9:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 23, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM and lasting until 11:00 AM. Visitation will be followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling, LA.
