John T. Poret passed away February 12, 2024 at the age of 65. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Poret and his daughters, Kate Plaisance (Brandon), Jill Poret, and Grace Poret. Grandchildren, Emilie, Hannah, Leah, and Harlan Plaisance, and Ella Lepine. He is also survived by his mother, Nelwyn Poret and siblings, Andre Poret (Marilyn), Leticia Poret Vasquez (Roland), and Nan Poret Armand (Mike), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Leonce Poret.
John served in the US Army Reserves 1192nd Transportation Unit for over 20 years. He worked for NOPD and went on to work as an RN at Charity Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA, at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
