
Irving Pierre, Sr., known affectionately as “Daddy Irving” or “Mr. Irving,” was born on January 14, 1924, and entered eternal rest on January 10th, 2025. Irving is the third eldest of eleven siblings, born to Edgar Pierre and Ethel Christophe Pierre. When two of his siblings passed away at an early age, Irving was raised along with his nine siblings. Irving began serving in the United States Army in 1940. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He then worked as a laborer for Celotex for over 40 years before retiring.
In 1946, Irving married Evelyn Catherine Ruth Griffin. They had six children: Sherron, Nancy, Ann, Irving Jr., Ilean, and Bridget.
Irving later owned and operated Pierre’s Grocery in Ama for over 50 years with his wife Evelyn.
Irving was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ama, La., for over 70 years. Irving was a pillar in the community, and a beloved patriarch to his family. He left a lasting legacy of love, faith, wisdom, dedication and determination.

Deans: niece: Shonda Griffin; grandchildren: Trina Triche, Nicole LeBeauf, Kendall Pierre, Sr., Trenell Triche; great-granddaughter: Hope Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters: Ilean Pierre-Medley, Bridget Taylor; sisters: Barbara (Barry) Pilson, Eva Compton: daughter-in-law: Loubertha Ann Pierre; son-in-law: Eldridge Triche; sister-in-law: Rita L. Wright; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives whom he loved. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2025, for 4:00 p.m. Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 10867 River Rd, Ama LA 70031. Reception to follow. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, for 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
