Hayward Joseph Bourgeois

Hayward Joseph Bourgeois passed away from cardio renal failure, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024; he was 89 years old.

Born on October 3, 1934, his early life was spent in Reserve, LA. He graduated from Leon Godchaux High School.

He married Elizabeth Wightman (deceased February 2023) in June 1960. They resided in LaPlace, LA and raised four children: Kellie B Manthe (Don), Suzzanne B Richard (Neil), Kyle Bourgeois and Joelle Bourgeois Moreau (Gregg).
He was Hayward to four grandchildren: Payton Bourgeois, Owen Bourgeois, Jace Richard, and Joey Richard.

Hayward retired from Shell Oil NORCO after 30 plus years of service. He also owned and operated River Parishes Electrical Sales and Services, providing electrical and A/C refrigeration sales and services, in St. John, St. Charles, and St. James Parishes, for over 30 years.

Hayward loved playing, coaching, and watching baseball and football. He played in high school, while serving in the U.S. Army, and later recreational teams, in NORCO and LaPlace. He coached multiple youth teams in St. John Parish, as well as St. Joan of Arc Catholic Primary School.
He loved his family, caring for and maintaining his LaPlace home, where he tended a pecan orchard, in his retirement years.
