Valero St. Charles Refinery raised more than $200,000 for St. John Parish United Way through its fourth annual Cast It Forward Fishing Rodeo.
The rodeo raised a total of $205,327.44 with more than 200 people participating in the event held at Grand Isle Marina.
“We truly appreciate the overwhelming support we received from our business partners to make this event a huge success,” said Leslie Sullivan, Vice President and General Manager at Valero’s St. Charles Refinery. “For the first time, this event raised more than $200,000 and that amount wouldn’t have been possible without our sponsors and the generosity of so many of our contractors and vendors. I want to thank our partners, those who planned and participated in the rodeo, and the amazing staff and volunteers from St. John United Way who contributed to surpassing our fundraising goal.”
The event took place May 30 and May 31.
Money raised by Valero St. Charles will go directly toward United Way programs which serve St. John the Baptist Parish and surrounding areas.
“Because of Valero’s partnership with St. John United Way, we can sustain our agencies that support the community. Agencies such as The Ministry of Care, CASA, and Second Harvest are just a few local agencies in our surrounding area that we support. We are incredibly humbled and eternally grateful for the opportunity to be a recipient of Valero’s generosity,” said Dolores Montz, Executive Director of St. John United Way.
