Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day won’t be held this spring

Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day, which allows residents to dispose and recycle materials like scrap metal, tires, batteries and cleaning products, will not take place this spring as it has in previous years.

The event was typically held in the spring each year in both St. Charles and St. John parishes, but took a small hiatus due to COVID-19 and Hurricane Ida before returning last year.

Last year, the event was held at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

Jan Herrington, who handles media relations for the event, said that officials are in the process of determining a new date but that it will not take place in the spring.
