Des Allemands residents indicted on drug charges

Two Des Allemands residents face drug charges after the unsealing of an indictment this month by U.S. Attorney Duane Evans.

The indictment was unsealed after eight individuals were arrested by local law enforcement working with federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents. Each person was indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. If convicted, they face a minimum of five years and up to 40 years imprisonment and at least four years of supervised release following imprisonment.

John Paul Gage Jr. and Yolanda Tillman, each of Des Allemands, Lionel Duncan, Linez Green, Michael Lewis and Rydelle Rounds of Thibodaux, James Williams of Schriever and Anjhaelyn Hayes of Humble, Texas, were charged in the indictment. Additionally, Green and Gage were indicted in Count 3, while Gage Jr. and Rounds were indicted in Count 6, for illegal use of a communications facility. If convicted of Counts 3 or 6, they face up to 20 years imprisonment, up to a $1 million fine, and at least three years supervised release following imprisonment.

Green was indicted in Counts 2, 4, and 5 for distribution of a quantity of a mixture of methamphetamine. If convicted of either of these three counts, Green faces up to 20 years imprisonment, up to a $1 million fine, and at least three years supervised release following imprisonment. Hayes was indicted in Count 7 for possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine. If convicted of Count 7, she faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years imprisonment, up to a $5 million fine, and at least four years of supervised release following imprisonment. All seven counts of the indictment also carry a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

According to the indictment, the eight individuals conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine throughout the Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes area. The conspiracy involved obtaining narcotics from Houston and transporting those narcotics to Thibodaux and was carried out through wire and electronic communications.
