Man sentenced for possession of child pornography

Steven Ferraro, 54, who was convicted on Nov. 17 on four counts of possessing pornography involving a juvenile under the age of 13 and three counts of possessing pornography of a juvenile under the age of 17, received his sentence on Monday.

Judge Connie Aucoin sentenced Ferraro to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections on each count and ordered those sentences to run concurrent. The sentences were imposed without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

In imposing her sentence, Aucoin considered Ferraro’s age and disability as factors in mitigation.

“The only way to eliminate the abuse of these child victims is to eliminate the market which profits off their torture,” Aucoin said at the sentencing.

Ferraro was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Deanne R. Williams and Juan A. Byrd.

“The St. Charles Parish District Attorney’s Office is committed to vigorously prosecuting these crimes when committed in the parish,” Byrd said.
