St. Charles Parish has extended hours at its popular Ormond Spray Park, and the same extra time will also apply to the West Bank Spray Park that is set to open by the end of July.
“Parents of younger children expressed the desire for earlier opening times, so we are happy to try extended hours so that more residents can enjoy the spray park,” Parks and Recreation Director Duane Foret said.
The extended hours will take place on Thursdays and Fridays for the remainder of the season, with the spray park now opening at 10 a.m. both days. Previously, the park didn’t open until 1 p.m. on those days.
Foret added that the parish will monitor attendance during these earlier times to help decide on hours for future spray park seasons.
Parish officials are hopeful that the new spray park on the West Bank will be open later this summer.
“Construction of the West Bank Spray Park has been impacted by supply chain issues, but we hope to have the new location open by the end of July,” Foret said.
The new hours of operation at the Ormond Spray Park are as follows:
Monday – Closed for Maintenance; Tuesday & Wednesday – 1 – 6 p.m.; Thursday & Friday – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday – Private rentals, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Open to the Public 1 – 6 p.m.
Beginning Sept. 3, the park will move to weekend-only operations through Sept.29. The Ormond Spray Park will close for the season on Sept. 30.
