The Destrehan baseball team will host a golf tournament on Monday, Nov. 24 at the Ormond Country Club in Destrehan.

The Flamin'’ Hot Chee Weez, a St. Charles U12 Division 1 soccer team, placed first in the Sugarfest Tournament in Raceland Oct. 18 and 19.

Hunter education classes offered

The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office will offer a 16-hour hunter safety education course to the public on the following dates: Nov. 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Shooting Stars basketball league designed for kids with disabilities

The St. Charles Parish Recreation Department is now registering for the new Shooting Stars Basketball program, designed for children ages 5 to 18 with disabilities.

Destrehan receiver Corey Vidal gets some air and comes down with a nice catch against East St. John. Vidal had 114 receiving yards to help the Wildcats stay undefeated with a 23-7 win. With perfect season on the line, DHS ready for East Ascension

Jordan Jefferson may start for LSU

Just a quick prediction, but I think LSU head coach Les Miles is very close to inserting former Destrehan High School standout quarterback Jordan Jefferson into the lineup.

Hahnville running back Alfred Blue fights for some tough yards against Dutchtown last week. Blue finished with 147 yards on 26 carries and scored four touchdowns. Once again, Tigers called on to stop dangerous ground game

After a glance at the final score, most people would assume Hahnville and Dutchtown just got finished playing an exciting high school basketball game, with both teams combining for 97 points and the Tigers pulling it out at the last second by a 49-48 score.

I made a scouting trip during the summer to find places to fish other than Grand Isle, Lake Salvador and Lake Cataouatche.

Hahnville was able to bounce back from a tough loss to Destrehan by way of a huge 31-8 win over East Ascension, which moved the Tigers to 4-2 on the season and evened out their district record at 1-1.

Washington, who was picked as a Herald-Guide Playmaker last week, got the award once again after tearing through East Ascension for 8 tackles and 3 sacks, leading his team to a 31-8 win in the process.

DEFENSE. Destrehan High School’s Ladycats volleyball team beat Hahnville High School on Oct. 15, but it was their defeat of St. Amant on Oct. 20 that pushed them into a first place district spot.

On Oct. 15, the Destrehan High School Ladycats varsity volleyball team out served parish rivals, the Hahnville High School Lady Tigers to net a victory at the teams’ second meeting of the season.

In writing this article I feel the same way I felt back in September of 2007 when the Indianapolis Colts defeated the New Orleans Saints 41-10.

After Destrehan failed to score in the first half against winless St. Amant, many in the stands wondered if this was a nightmarish flashback to last year, when the Wildcats needed a blocked field goal to keep their undefeated season in tact.

UP AND RUNNING. Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle has powered restored with a fully stocked grocery department. The marina has ice, shrimp and poogies, and crabs and mullet.  Ms. Dodie expects that fishermen will be in force with fall fishing. Herald-Guide Outdoor Report with Bruce McDonald
