The Flamin'’ Hot Chee Weez, a St. Charles U12 Division 1 soccer team, placed first in the Sugarfest Tournament in Raceland Oct. 18 and 19.

The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office will offer a 16-hour hunter safety education course to the public on the following dates: Nov. 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The St. Charles Parish Recreation Department is now registering for the new Shooting Stars Basketball program, designed for children ages 5 to 18 with disabilities.

After a glance at the final score, most people would assume Hahnville and Dutchtown just got finished playing an exciting high school basketball game, with both teams combining for 97 points and the Tigers pulling it out at the last second by a 49-48 score.

Hahnville was able to bounce back from a tough loss to Destrehan by way of a huge 31-8 win over East Ascension, which moved the Tigers to 4-2 on the season and evened out their district record at 1-1.

Washington, who was picked as a Herald-Guide Playmaker last week, got the award once again after tearing through East Ascension for 8 tackles and 3 sacks, leading his team to a 31-8 win in the process.

On Oct. 15, the Destrehan High School Ladycats varsity volleyball team out served parish rivals, the Hahnville High School Lady Tigers to net a victory at the teams’ second meeting of the season.

After Destrehan failed to score in the first half against winless St. Amant, many in the stands wondered if this was a nightmarish flashback to last year, when the Wildcats needed a blocked field goal to keep their undefeated season in tact.
