Thirteen Destrehan High School swimmers have qualified for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state meet on Nov. 22 in Sulphur.

A couple of weeks ago my neighbor, Gary Brasher, made a trip of a lifetime. He had a chance to hunt and fish for game that we here in St. Charles Parish only dream of. Brasher has an uncle living in Belgrade, Montana and he invited Gary on a 10-day outdoor adventure.

Hahnville couldn't stop Dutchtown backs Eddie Lacy and Kelvin York last week, which caused the Tigers to fall 35-7 in the first round of the 2008 playoffs and abruptly ended their season.

Despite winning the district championship, the 2008 season ended for Destrehan High School’s girls volleyball team after they fell to the Northshore’s Mandeville Skippers in the first round of the playoffs Monday night.

Last Tuesday was a historical day in our Nations history. For many outdoorsmen, as for myself, it was a day off to take care of hunting and fishing needs, too. The weather was clear, cool, with light winds. It was a perfect day to be off.
