Ferry farewell

It used to be a relaxing interlude as we parked our car on the Luling-Destrehan ferry, got out and leaned over the railing to survey the flowing waters of the great Mississippi River. Now we only whiz over it at 60 mph on the Hale Boggs Bridge which was almost the first of its kind.

SCP Girl Scouts invited to Trail Day

NEW ORLEANS - St. Charles Parish Girl Scouts are invited to discover the historic city of New Orleans by participating in Girl Scouts’ Heritage Trail Day on Sunday, Oct. 18 in the heart of the city, the French Quarter.

The walking tours include a program guide and map with detailed listings of what can be seen and completed at various stops along the way. Many of the participating museums and businesses will have special projects or presentations specifically designed for Girl Scouts.
