FREE computer classes at library

ST. CHARLES PARISH - St. Charles Library is offering free beginner level computer classes at three locations.

All classes are single, two-hour classes, not continuing courses. It is necessary to register for each class.

Available classes are:
Internet Basics - March 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Regional Library in Luling, and March 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Rose Library.

E-mail Basics - March 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Regional Library, March 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the East Regional Library and March 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in St. Rose.

Jambalaya benefit helps Montz girl

NORCO - A jambalaya benefit dinner to help raise money for medical expenses for 12-year-old Lindsey Creasy will be held on March 30 at Norco Elementary School located at 102 Fifth St. in Norco from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Creasy, who was born with neurofibromatosis, will undergo surgery to remove a tumor from her leg and have her foot amputated on April 27. She will also have to wear a prosthetic from the knee down.

Dinners include jambabalaya, bread, white beans, salad and a brownie. Cost is $7 per meal.

Bunny brunch at Destrehan Plantation

DESTREHAN - Destrehan Plantation will hosts a Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the manor on River Road to help raise money for the organization, Save Our Cemeteries.

A day of fun is planned featuring a gourmet brunch, cocktails, live entertainment, an egg hunt, arts and crafts tent, face painting, egg races, a raffle and games with the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $15 for kids 12 and under, $20 for SOC members and $25 for non-members. To purchase tickets, call 504-525-3377.

“This is our first year as part of the Save Our Cemeteries event, but we are expecting a great turn out,” said plantation director Nancy Robert. “There’s a lot for the whole family to enjoy.

$5 bag sale at parish thrift shop

LULING - The St. Charles Social Concerns will hold a $5 bag sale for all winter clothes on Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The shop will be closed on March 30 and reopen on March 31 with a complete stock of summer clothes.

Music showcase at DHS March 26

DESTREHAN - The Destrehan High School drumline will host the St. Charles Parish Music and Movement showcase on March 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s gym.

The showcase will feature the DHS winter drumline, the Harry Hurst percussion ensemble, the DHS colorguard, the Hahnville High School colorguard, and Mark Lightiser and Mendel Lee.
