A.A. Songy kids had tons of fun at the school's <i>Family Fun Fest</i> Herald-Guide celebrates St. Charles Parish Schools

LULING - On Friday, April 27, A.A. Songy held their second annual Family Fun Fest.

The students participated in a number of fun activities to celebrate the season and culminated the day with a picnic under the trees.

This exciting day of play concluded the school’s "Week of the Young Child."

A traveling exhibit by the Louisiana State Museum will be at the Hahnville branch of the St. Charles Parish Library through May 25.

Seventeen St. Charles Parish Public School students were honored at the Annual Cox Inspirational Heroes program held at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner and that makes them this week’s Very Important Parishioners.

Editor’s note: Army Sgt. Jeffry Kieffer graduated from Hahnville High School in 1996 and from Nicholls State University in 1998 with an associates degree in criminal justice. Kieffer joined the Army in 2002 and is married to Nicole Pitre of Marrero. The couple share a son named Anthony. He was first deployed to Iraq in 2003 and was deployed for a second time last October. This is his letter of thanks to R.J. Vial Elementary students and teachers for their community donation drive that supported care packages sent to the troops last Christmas who bravely serve overseas.

A Mississippi resident who is allegedly responsible for breeding pit bulls to fight and then having them transported to St. Charles Parish was arrested on dog-fighting and drug charges in the midst of a multi-organizational sting that took place recently in Pass Christian, authorities said.
