In honor of my grandfather’s 68th birthday, my family and I traveled to McNeil, Miss. for a fun-filled day complete with aunts, uncles, cousins and a steaming pot of my dad’s boiled crawfish.

LULING - On Saturday, April 19 St. Charles Parish Hospital will host a Grand Opening Celebration and Dedication Ceremony for the David J. Vial, M.D. Patient Care Centré.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to tour the new facility, have fun with family oriented activities and celebrate an important medical expansion for our community.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. and includes a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, tours, food and entertainment featuring St. Charles Parish Hospital's award winning jambalaya, and children's activities including a Teddy Bear Clinic where kids can bring their teddy bears in for a check-up, fire department safe houses and "Sparky" the Fire Dog.

The celebration will be held on Milling Avenue behind St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling. Parking will be available near the hospital with shuttle transportation.

Fundraiser on tap for travel softball team

HAHNVILLE - The 16U Louisiana Interrogators girls travel softball team will hold a fundraiser on April 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Hymel’s Restaurant located at 15805 River Rd. in Hahnville.

Plate lunches including fried catfish, white beans and rice, potato salad and bread will be on sale for $5. The meals are take-out only.

DESTREHAN - The MOMS Club of Kenner, Destrehan and LaPlace is holding an open house on Friday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kenner City Park located on the corner of Loyola Avenue and Vintage street in Kenner.

The club will have a bounce house, treasure hunt and refreshments. The Kenner Fire Department and Kenner Police Department will be there to perform car seat checks and fingerprinting.
