New Orleans RV show in Kenner this week

NEW ORLEANS - An RV tradition in the south - the 17th annual New Orleans Spring RV Show & Camping - will showcase over 200 makes and models of recreational vehicles at the Pontchartrain Center, Feb. 29 through March 2.

Show hours are Friday 12-8, Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 11-5.
Admission is $7 for adults, $2 for kids 6-15 and free to children under 6.

It's been almost three years since 1,400 residents living in the Bayou Gauche area signed a petition asking for flood protection for their homes and businesses. All of the signatures came from property owners living in the Sunset Drainage District and residents of Des Allemands, located outside of the district.

Women’s club to award three scholarships

LULING - The St. Charles Women’s Club is awarding three scholarships to graduating seniors who reside in St. Charles Parish.

Two academic awards - one for $4,000 and one for $1,000 - will be given to a high school graduate who plans to attend 4-year universities. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to attend a vocational school or towards an associate’s degree.

Applications may be obtained from the senior counselors at Destrehan and Hahnville High Schools.

Students who attend private schools may call 985-764-9762 to set up a time to pick up an application.

Deadline for all applications is Feb. 28.
