Parish pageant seeks contestants

NORCO - The 10th annual Parish of Plenty pageant is seeking contestants for this years competition on July 25 at the K.C. Home in Norco.

The entry fee for all divisions is $45, which includes photogenic. Dress code is “Sunday Best” for Baby Miss through Jr. Miss, and formal wear for Teen and Miss divisions. Queen, alternates, photogenic, fashion, prettiest hair, prettiest smile and prettiest eyes are awarded in each category.

Admission to the pageant is $2.

All proceeds will be presented to the St. Charles Festival Pageant scholarship fund. All queens will be presented at the festival pageant on Aug. 1 at Destrehan High School at 6 p.m.

Donate prizes for benefit bingo

LULING - A benefit prize bingo and barbecue dinner for Vincent Radosta will be held on July 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW Hall located at 140 Angus Dr. in Luling.
Radosta, a 19-year-old Hahnville High School student, was diagnosed with Leukemia in April. He was also born with Down syndrome. All proceeds will help cover medical costs.

Organizers are asking for gift certificate donations or other items for the prize bingo. Other contributions are also accepted.

With road upgrade work on the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge to begin Sunday, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne chastised the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for excluding local agencies from providing input in a traffic re-routing plan that could cause substantial additional traffic congestion.
