Niah Yoriana Aldave, pictured at right, was born on November 4, 2006 to proud parents Tobie Fletcher and Luigui Aldave. The family resides in New Jersey. Maternal grandparents are Deanna and Robert Fletcher of Luling. Paternal grandparents are Cristina and Luis Aldave of Lima, Peru. Congratulations to Tobie and Luigui!

The National Society of High School Scholars announces that Lex D. Vieregge from Des Allemands of the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts High School has been selected for membership in the society. He is the son of Kristin Matherne and the grandson and Ernest and Mary Ann Matherne of Des Allemands.

LULING - On Friday, April 27, A.A. Songy held their second annual Family Fun Fest.
The students participated in a number of fun activities to celebrate the season and culminated the day with a picnic under the trees.
This exciting day of play concluded the school’s "Week of the Young Child."

Editor’s note: Army Sgt. Jeffry Kieffer graduated from Hahnville High School in 1996 and from Nicholls State University in 1998 with an associates degree in criminal justice. Kieffer joined the Army in 2002 and is married to Nicole Pitre of Marrero. The couple share a son named Anthony. He was first deployed to Iraq in 2003 and was deployed for a second time last October. This is his letter of thanks to R.J. Vial Elementary students and teachers for their community donation drive that supported care packages sent to the troops last Christmas who bravely serve overseas.
