The Council On Aging senior citizen activity centers serve as community focal points where older residents can receive meals, supportive services and can participate in planned socialization, recreation, education and health maintenance activities - and there are many excellent events planned for September.

St. Charles Art Guild celebrates 40 years

The St. Charles Art Guild is amongst the oldest and still functioning art guilds in the metropolitan New Orleans area. It was established in 1968 by Mariann Burns, Laura Wilk and Claire Van Wirt. Charter members were Travis Pitchford and nationally known Mississippi mud clay artist Lorraine Gendron.

Emily Charles, 21, had begun to drive herself and five longtime friends from a Luling hotel to Southern California on Feb. 18 when she rear-ended a vehicle and lost control of her SUV at the intersection of Louisiana highways 3127 and 3142 near Dow Chemical Co. in Killona. Charles hit the brakes, but could not avoid clipping the back of the car.
“After that, I don’t even know what happened. We must have flipped,” Charles said.
