Grace Bingham of Luling and Kristal Breaux of Bayou Gauche competed in the State Soccer Challenge hosted by the Knights of Columbus in Baton Rouge. The competition requires each participant to take twenty-five shots on goal from a predetermined distance from the goal. Points are awarded based on the area where the goal is scored: 20 points for the upper corners; 10 points for the lower corners; and 5 points for any other area of the goal.

The 31-13 margin of victory in the New Orleans Saints win over the Atlanta Falcons doesn’t even begin to tell the story of one of the most important games in the 2006 NFL season.

GOOD NIGHT. The Wildcats couldn’t stop the Bear’s running game, and the Bears couldn’t stop the Wildcats' passing game - leading to an all-out offensive battle that our guys, unfortunately, lost. Turn out the lights, the party’s OVER

The Destrehan Wildcats' 2006 season came to halt Friday night at the hands of the Carencro Bears for the second time in four years as the boys in garnet and gray fell 35-28. The Bears' had just ended the Hahnville Tigers' season one week prior, but the Wildcats did not go down as easy as Hahnville did.

Saints FLUB their way to another loss

The Destrehan Wildcats accepted their fate, facing an essentially 9-1 Dutchtown team in the first round of the playoffs, and took them down 35-28 Friday night. Tomorrow, the Wildcats will again be at home against the 8-4 Carencro Bears in the regionals.

The showdown between unbeaten Destrehan and East St. John was supposed to be a thriller. It turned out to be one only if one was an East St. John fan as the Wildcats of black and yellow churned out a 42-7 victory over Destrehan.

If you had asked most New Orleans Saints fans which rookie player would make the biggest plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, they would have told you “Reggie Bush.”

DESTREHAN - The stage was set. The pundits had made their predictions. Every neutral party assumed an easy Destrehan win. And then Hahnville showed up and nearly pulled off what could have been the biggest upset of the year.

Talk about homecomings. When the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens go head to head us local folks hardly know who to root for with so many former St. Charles Parish high schoolers lining up for the Ravens.

The Hahnville High School football Tigers have been struggling to regain control of their season after a string of heartbreaking losses, and let's face it, folks - things aren't going to get any easier with unbeaten Destrehan and always-tough Assumption on tap over the next two "do-or-die" weeks.

RUNNING BACK Jerico Nelson and the rest of Destrehan’s offense demonstrated how speed puts points on the board against West Jeff.

The Destrehan Wildcats proved they are serious contenders for the state title with their 35-21 spanking of a strong West Jefferson Buccaneers team and their game with the Hahnville Tigers could be even easier.
