HEARTBREAKER. Hahnville High’s girls basketball team suffered a tough loss to Ponchatoula High School’s Green Wave. PHS beat HHS 61 to 48 in a playoffs matchup.

The St. Charles Parish 8-year-old All-Star Basketball team placed 1st in the Kenner Invitational Tournament and 3rd in the District Harahan tournament.

The St. Charles Parish School Board honored Hahnville High School baseball player Wesley Thigpen after he signed a letter of intent with Meridian Community College in Mississippi.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
This week's Off to College and Beyond Player of the Week is UNO shortstop and DHS grad Tyrone Wethers who was 2 for 6 with 4 runs scored, an RBI and a hit by pitch in the Privateers' home opener victory over Southern last Tuesday. He was also 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI and 2 walks in the teams' victory over New Mexico State on Saturday. And on Sunday, he was 1 for 4 with a run scored and a walk in the Privateers' loss to New Mexico State.

This week's Off to College and Beyond player of the week is Xavier guard and DHS grad Mark Stewart who set a career record for 3-pointers on Saturday with his 75th 3-pointer of the season. In the game, a victory over Loyola, he scored 20 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Last Thursday, he had 9 points and an assist in the team's victory over Mobile. He also had 2 points, a rebound and an assist in the team's victory over Tougaloo last Monday.
