A Hahnville man was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated rape after police alleged he had multiple sexual encounters with a 12-year-old girl.
Layne Tregre, 18, of 223 Nicole Lane in Hahnville, was arrested May 1 and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile in addition to the two rape charges.
St. Charles Parish deputies found Tregre with the girl after conducting a vehicle stop at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling — the scene was suspicious because Tregre’s vehicle was at the park after it was closed, according to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi.
According to parish law, it is illegal for any person to be on site at a public park or use the facilities in any way from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. unless they possess a permit to do so.
A detective arrived to investigate and learned Tregre had allegedly had more than one sexual encounter with the girl since April.
Tregre knew the girl as he was an acquaintance of her family, also West Bank residents, Grimaldi said.
Tregre was released from Nelson Coleman Correctional Center last week on $50,000 bond.
A court arraignment is scheduled for June 14.
