2 women take advantage of elderly Destrehan citizen to steal credit cards, checkbook

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for two women who used an elderly citizen’s kindness against her in order to steal credit cards and a checkbook from a Destrehan home.

On Sept. 24, two women knocked on an 82-year-old Destrehan woman’s door and said they were delivering medical supplies. When the elderly woman said that she did not order any supplies, the two women asked to use a telephone book inside the home to get the correct address for where they supplies needed to go, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

After looking through the phone book, the women left the home. A couple of hours later, the 82-year-old noticed that someone had used her credit card. She checked her purse and discovered that her checkbook and credit cards were missing.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, purchases were made using the stolen credit cards in LaPlace, Covington and New Orleans.

Authorities have released a picture of two people of interest in the case. Anyone having information on the incident is asked to contact Det. Joseph Dewhirst at (985) 783-1135 or (985) 783-6807.
