Residents will be able to legally shoot fireworks for first time in decades For the first time in more than 30 years, residents in St. Charles Parish will be able to legally shoot fireworks on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. While some residents are excited to pop the pyrotechnics, others are dreading the noise and potential for mayhem it will create.

School ends contract with workers’ comp administrator after lawsuit
St. Charles Parish Public Schools has decided to abruptly end a contract with a workers’ compensation claim administrator who attempted to negotiate a settlement for less than what is allowed under state statute.

•Angela Maquire, 30, of 1518 Sugar Ridge Road in LaPlace, was arrested on Dec. 17 and charged with possession with intent schedule IV, possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia, being in a park after hours of operation and as a fugitive from another agency.
