Six cars were burglarized in Norco last week and St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne is urging residents to lock their vehicles.

After St. Charles Parish was rocked by nine home burglaries in less than a month, the Sheriff’s Office is offering free home inspections to identify areas of a home that might make them susceptible to burglaries.

Sunset Drainage board agrees to parish takeover
In an end to a struggle for self governance that has popped up annually over the past few years, the Sunset Drainage District’s Board of Commissioners has voted to cede the district over to the control of St. Charles Parish.

The 16U St. Charles Parish All-Star softball team went undefeated throughout the Babe Ruth state tournament on their way to a state championship. The team will now head to the Babe Ruth Southwest Regionals in Houma, which will be held July 17-21.

Less jail time may be better
It is disturbing to learn that Louisiana jails a greater percentage of its citizens than any other state in the country. Hopefully, it is not because we have more criminals around but rather because our laws and practices have provided for that situation.
