Were approached by gunman while on break, police say
Authorities are still searching for a gunman who robbed two women while they were sitting outside of Zydeco’s II in Boutte, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Four women were arrested after a verbal confrontation at a funeral on Friday led to a fight later in the day, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Cheaper co-pays big draw for urgent care center
Dr. Brandon Haider is one of the physicians that will staff Luling Urgent Care. The new center offers treatments for a variety of cases like infections, simple fractures and sore throats. Victims of minor accidents who require stitches or treatment for burns will now have a cheaper option for emergency medical care.

Destrehan Dodgers win Lagniappe Tournament

The Destreha-based Louisiana Dodgers 10-year-old travel baseball team won the Lagniappe in Terrebonne Tournament. The Dodgers went 5-0 for the weekend with a 13-5 victory in the championship game. Diana "MawDee" Schaubhut Folse, 79, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died on Sunday May 27, 2012. Visitation was on Thursday, May 31, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Mass was held at 11 a.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Leo Joseph McGovern Sr., 83, passed away at his home in Destrehan on Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was a retired operator with the Public Sewage and Water Board in New Orleans, a veteran United States Naval Seaman with the USS Dixie and member of the Joint Task Force One Atomic Bomb Test Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands.

Randy Charles Deslatte Sr., 55, passed away at his home on Friday, May 25, 2012. He worked for Cajun Constructors as a carpenter for 15 years and was a graduate of Destrehan High School.
