Destrehan Plantation will hold its first Local’s Day event on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the plantation grounds at 13034 River Road, Destrehan. The event will showcase recent additions to Destrehan Plantation, including two recently completed creole cottages available for overnight stays, the School House and other improvements. A new exhibit will be open paying homage to Charles Paquet, enslaved mulatto, contracted to build the plantation home in 1787. For more information, contact Child Search at 785-3155 or 785-3157.
