Harney Elihu Hooper Jr.

Harney Elihu Hooper Jr., age 80, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Mansfield, Texas. Formerly of Luling where he lived for 50-plus years.

He loved God, his family, and playing chess.

He was a graduate of Behrman High School and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1960 from Louisiana State University.

Mr. Hooper was an innovative entrepreneur and businessman, having developed and owned the Boutte Ace Lumber Co. and Kellogg Land Co. He also proudly served on the St. Charles Parish School Board and was President of the St. Charles Parish Police Jury.

He is survived by his two sisters, Jean Royer and Sylvia Hollabaugh, daughters Gaylynn Hines and Lydia Lingle, son Wade Hooper and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

His final resting place will be in Mount Hermon, La., with his beloved parents, Harney Elihu Hooper Sr. and Annie Louise Valliant Hooper, who preceded him in death. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Aug. 11, at the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Hermon, La.
