Physician Spotlight: Cardiovascular Institute of the South

Dr. Christopher Paris and Dr. Owen Mogabgab are joined by CIS CEO David Konur, public officials and members of the River Region Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting of the new CIS location in Luling.

Interventional cardiologists Dr. Christopher Paris and Dr. Owen Mogabgab provide comprehensive cardiovascular care at CIS.  They also provide emergency services and inpatient services to patients at West Jefferson Medical Center.

Originally from Houma, Dr. Christopher Paris joined CIS in 2012.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. He received his doctorate from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Both his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships were completed at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans.

Dr. Paris is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Owen Mogabgab, a native of New Orleans, joined the expert team of cardiologists at CIS in 2018. He graduated summa cum laude from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, and he completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he was also named a chief fellow.

Dr. Mogabgab is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, endovascular interventions and interventional cardiology. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Texas Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.

CIS has provided care in Luling since 2013, offering a full range of cardiovascular services including ultrasound, nuclear and treadmill testing to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.  In addition, CIS provides in-clinic treatments for venous disease and offers a comprehensive smoking cessation program that includes medications, visits and counseling.  CIS also allows patients access to their personal health information through the CIS CardioConnect Patient Portal and Mobile App.  CIS CardioConnect allows patients the ability to view lab results, schedule appointments, refill prescriptions and more.  Also, the CIS Virtual Care Center provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure that patients have access to the CIS cardiology care team, anytime.
