New Life Community Church feeds the homeless

While folks all around New Orleans were getting ready to head out to parades as the Mardi Gras season got into full swing, youths at New Life Community Church’s 2017 confirmation class prepared to spend the morning serving others. After gathering early Sunday morning at the church in Luling, youths headed to St. Mark’s UMC in the French Quarter, where they attended morning worship and then served spaghetti and meatballs after the service.

In all, the youths provided and prepared food for 170 meals, which they then served to homeless men and women in the area.

This was not the first time the church has partnered with St. Mark’s to host their fellowship meal, but it was the first time the confirmation class had participated in such an activity.

The goal was to help youth better understand the call to live unselfishly and give of yourself to others. After the day of service, youth expressed what a great experience it was and how good it felt to give back to others.
