How St. Charles Parish residents can donate to flood victims

Several St. Charles Parish businesses, churches, government agencies and residents are currently collecting donations for flood victims across the state of Louisiana.

Below is a list of those who are currently collecting. This list is updated as more donations sites become available.

•Arc of St. Charles is collecting clothing donations for flood victims and allowing evacuees to pick up donated clothing at Cajun Village Thrift Store, 13432 U.S. Highway 90 in Boutte. Flood victims who have evacuated to St. Charles Parish can pickup clothing at no cost with a photo ID showing residency. If unable to pick up clothing, call store Manager Paula Barnes and designate a representative to do the pickup. Clothing can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (985) 785-0971 or (985) 331-8820.

•St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling will be accepting donations of clothes, blankets, food, water, etc all week at their community building from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. All will be delivered to Baton Rouge for distribution.

• St. Charles Parish and the United Way of St. Charles will collect donations at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and at the Allen Arterbury Building from 8:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. until Friday, Aug. 19. Items sought include toilet paper, hand sanitizer, tooth brushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine products, baby food, formula, diapers, bottles, wipes, towels and non-perishable food.

•St. Gertrude Catholic Church’s Youth Ministry will collect clothing, toiletries, bottled water, school supplies and cleaning supplies at the Fr. Mac Community Center in Des Allemands Monday, Aug. 15 – Friday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

•Angels Among Us Daycare on 112 Lakewood Drive will be collecting donations for flood victims. Clothes, food items, gift cards water…anything helps.

•Four Stars Childcare will accept donations for those affected by the flood. The donations will be collected at 109 Market Street in Paradis. Items that may be needed include water, food, clothes and toiletries.

•If you wish to help families in need please feel free to drop off CANNED food or a gift card to Lil Sprouts in Paradis. If you wish to mail a gift card the address is 15160 Hwy. 90 Paradis, LA 70080. Lil Sprouts will collect for at least one week and once the waters recede they will bring donations to the flooded areas. People trying to rebuild will need cards to Walmart, Home Depot, & Lowes.

•Mount Airy Baptist Church in Boutte is collecting water, toiletries, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, wipes, diapers, etc.

•The Norco Booster club will be collecting items on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Norco Concession Stand. Any items such as can goods, water, clothes, toothbrushes, shampoo…anything that can help will be accepted. The concession stand is located at the ballpark behind Norco Elementary school.

•Onyx Boutique, located at 1970 Ormond Blvd. Suite C in Destrehan, is accepting cots or air mattresses (with pump), bedding, pillows, towels, toiletries, water, coffee/tea, non-perishable food, diapers and women’s hygiene products. For every garbage bag of clothes and every box you will receive 20 percent off entire purchase this week (excludes sunglasses, bralettes, new fall arrivals and jewelry).

•Glenda and Frank Breaux are collecting items at their home located at 163 Rachel Lane in Des Allemands (home with blue roof). If you have a large collection, you can text Glenda at (504) 400-2535.

•Allstate Insurance: Kelly Buckwalter will be collecting donations for the flood victims. We are collecting food, water, clothing, cleaning supplies, etc. at each of their locations. 1. 101 Schexnaydre Lane, Destrehan 2. 13413 Hwy 90 Suite K, Boutte, La 3. 2002 20th St Suite A104, Kenner

•The St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter is accepting donations of prepaid VISA cards, as well as cat litter, litter boxes (rectangle plastic kind), cat or dog food, and Dawn detergent for decontamination. Please bring donations to the shelter at 921 Rue La Cannes Drive in Luling. Donations will go to Lamar Dixon & Zeus’ Place holding rescued animals. For more information, call (985) 783-5010.

•Boomerang’s Bar in Destrehan, located at 14516 River Road, is collecting clothes, toys, school supplies, non-perishable food items and water.

•Donations are being accepted at 436 Kellog Drive in Luling. Items that may be dropped off on the front porch between 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. include bottled water, canned/non-perishable food, blankets, sleeping bags, gently used clothing and cleaning items.

•St. Mark Catholic Church is accepting donations for flood victims at the church, 10773 River Road, Ama. For more information, call (504) 431-8505.

•Lord’s House Community Church is accepting donations for flood victims at the church, 500 Willowdale Blvd., from 5 to 8 p.m. this week. For a different drop-off time or more information, call (504) 275-9426.

•Cyclone BJJ Academy, located at 13413 Hwy. 90 Suite L in Boutte, is collecting donations of all types, including water, non-perishable food, clothes, shoes, blankets, toiletries, diapers, blankets, dog food and cat food. Items can be dropped off through Friday.

•West St Charles VFW Post 3750 will hold a benefit jambalaya lunch Aug. 20 beginning at 12 noon to benefit the Department of Louisiana VFW Disaster Fund that benefits veterans from around the State. The meal will cost $8, including jambalaya, corn and bread. Pick up meals at 140 Angus Drive in Luling. For more information, call (504) 251-5628.

•East St. Charles Volunteer and St. Rose Fire departments have partnered to help flood victims. Donations can be dropped off at 6 to 9 p.m. at East St. Charles Volunteer Department, 1901 Ormond Blvd., Destrehan, or call to request a drop-off time. Items sought include cleaning supplies, toiletries, clothes, blankets, baby items, toys, food etc. Drop off items at the East St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department, 1901 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.
