Destrehan teacher arrested, accused of having sex with female student

A 26-year-old Destrehan High School teacher has been arrested after she was accused of having sex with a female student.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation began after a family member of the student provided information about the alleged crime. Detectives interviewed the student, who said that she did have a sexual relationship with a DHS teacher named Kimberly Naquin, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to the student, the relationship began in September 2014 and lasted until August 2015.

The student advised most of the inappropriate contact occurred at the teacher’s prior residence, which was located in Kenner; however an undetermined amount of incidents occurred within St. Charles Parish at a Destrehan High School classroom and a Destrehan residence, according to investigators.

Upon learning that a majority of the sexual acts occurred within Kenner, detectives with the Kenner Police Department were contacted and apprised of the allegations at which time they initiated their own investigation.A warrant was obtained for Naquin’s arrest and she was later booked on the charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and prohibited sexual conduct between a student and educator.She is being held on a $75,000 bond in the Nelson Coleman Corrections facility in Killona,Naquin, who teaches AP human geography and world geography at DHS, was arrested Thursday night. She was at a Beta Club conference when she was arrested.She is the daughter of St. Charles Parish School Board President Dennis Naquin, according to Kimberly Naquin’s Facebook page.On Friday, Dennis Naquin could not be reached for comment, but in a voice mail greeting said he was taking a leave of absence for an undetermined amount of time.
