Book Review: “Beautiful Creatures”

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is a nonfiction, Southern gothic with a hint of fantasy and romance. It is a page-turner for all types of readers.

The story opens with the main protagonist, Ethan, having a chilling dream about a girl he cannot name. Soon enough, that girl shows up in his small town in the form of Lena, a mysterious new girl with a dark secret. As weeks pass, the two form a friendship that soon develops into love. Between Lena’s ability to cast spells and the typical high school mean girls, they must fight to stay together. But as the clock ticks closer to Lena’s sixteenth birthday, doubt begins to settle in their minds about their fate as a couple.

I would personally recommend Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl to anyone, it appeals to all genres from romance to paranormal and fantasy. The book mentions a few mature themes, but nothing grotesque.
