Hahnville-based Otto Candies cruises past Townsend Homes

Earlier this month, St. Charles Catholic-based Townsend Homes struck for six runs in the first two innings on their way to a 6-4 win over Hahnville-based Otto Candies. On Monday, Otto Candies flipped the script.

The Hahnville squad scored three runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 5-1 win over Townsend Homes. The win improved Otto Candies’ record to 10-4-1 on the season.

The teams were tied at 1-1 heading into the fourth inning when Hahnville made their move. Todd Porche led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a balk.

Matt Fontenot followed with a single to move Porche to third, and Dylan Keller came through with a sacrifice fly to plate Porche and give Otto Candies a 2-1 lead.

A batter later, Drew Favre stepped to the plate  and hit a two-RBI double to left field to put Otto Candies on top 4-1.In the sixth, Garrett Smith gave his team even more cushion with a sacrifice fly that drove in the final run of the game.

Waylon LeBlanc was impressive on the mound for Otto Candies, giving up just two hits while striking out four in three innings of relief.

Favre led Otto Candies from the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Fontenot was 2-for-3 and Tyler Lamers finished 2-for-4.
