St. Charles Herald Guide is the community newspaper and official journal of St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. It has served the area since 1873 when started by former Governor Michael Hahn.

The Herald-Guide is a weekly newspaper, published on Thursdays. It is mailed to all areas of the parish. It is also available in over 80 newsstands at grocery stores, convenience stores, post offices, restaurants and other businesses throughout the area.

St. Charles Parish is rich in natural resources with the nation’s greatest navigational highway — the Mississippi River — flowing through it. It is also home to Louis Armstrong International Airport. That plus two interstate highways and four railroads make it one of the country’s most complete transportation centers.

The parish has one of the highest per capita incomes in the state due to its prominence as a center for the petrochemical industry. Fishing, farming and oil refinement also provide livelihoods for its cosmopolitan population. The school system here always ranks among the best in the state. Eight colleges and universities are located within a 40 mile radius of the parish.

The Herald-Guide is published by Louisiana Publishing Inc. on U. S. Hwy. 90 in Boutte. The company also publishes six magazines — Louisiana Sportsman, Mississippi Sportsman, North Carolina Sportsman, South Carolina Sportsman, Boats, Bikes and RVs, and Work Trucks, Tractors, and Heavy Equipment.
