EDITOR'S NOTE: Making the rounds on the Internet is a seemingly unlikely but thought-provoking message from wrinkled and wizened funnyman George Carlin, a stand-up comedian and social critic who joked about drugs and sex in the 1960s and '70s but, as you can see for yourself, is serving up a different brand of humor and commentary today. The message that follows is popping up in e-mails and on Internet message boards nationwide. And when you read it, we think you'll agree that perhaps in the case of Mr. Carlin, the Lord truly does work in mysterious ways.
