The Hahnville girl's basketball team finished just inches shy of the Class 5A state championship game, falling to Chapelle 56-39 in the semifinals on Monday night.

Tigers win first game of year, Destrehan Wildcats fall 4-1
The Hahnville Tigers exploded past Vaderbilt 12-2 in the St. Charles Jamboree on Saturday, using some clutch hitting from Colby Broussard and B.J. Young and a shut down pitching performance from Adam Risinger.

After stomping rival Hahnville, the Destrehan Wildcats suffered a slight setback in a defensive struggle with Glen Oaks, falling 37-38. But Destrehan didn't stay down for long and was able to rebound with a 71-57 win over St. Amant and a 77-64 victory over East St. John.

The "HEAT" is on for the Mimosa 7-8 year old division basketball team who were named champions of the 1st Annual St. Charles Parish Classic on November 30 and December 1, 2007 and the 1st Annual Christmas Classic on December 27 and 28, 2007. The Boutte Booster Club sponsored both tournaments.

Though Destrehan was able to knock off Lutcher 21-13 in the Ed Reed River Parishes Jamboree on Friday, Wildcat head coach Stephen Robicheaux felt like his team took a step back due to a plethora of penalties committed during the game– two of which negated scores.
