Everyone knew that Hahnville was extremely inexperienced on both sides of the ball this year, but few could have expected that the Tigers would look so good this early in the season.

The first-team Destrehan defense has only allowed one touchdown all season long, and that dominance was on display against Higgins as they shutout a squad that was averaging 37.5 points a game and helped their team to a 20-0 win.

Going into the season, everyone knew that Destrehan was loaded on defense. And while that unit has certainly played lights out so far, the offense has been extremely efficient, needing only two games to rack up 76 points.

Hahnville was able to bounce back from their overtime loss to South Plaquemine, using three rushing touchdowns by Jai Steib to steamroll Helen Cox 32-12 and move to 1-1 on the season.

After three weeks of Hurricanes, Gustav, Hanna and Ike, Louisiana, Texas and the Gulf Coast have earned a well-deserved break from the weather.

St. Charles Parish Councilman-at-large Terry Authement and District III Councilwoman Wendy Benedetto met with parish officials last week with a plan to bring parish recreational baseball groups and travel team baseball groups together in the parish.

The Crescent City Hooks, a 13-year-old baseball team based out of Destrehan, won the Super Series American Division National Championship the week of July 11 through 18 in Tulsa, Okla.

Destrehan and Hahnville will take the field on Aug. 28 at Hahnville High School’s stadium. The Tigers will get the event started with a 6:30 p.m. game against St. James, with the Wildcats taking on Lutcher shortly after. There will also be an HHS stadium Tigers, Wildcats go through one final tune-up

The Tigers and the Wildcats will take to the field on Aug. 28 when both teams take part in a four-squad jamboree at the Hahnville High School stadium.
