Fashion workshop & runway show

DESTREHAN - The St. Charles Parish Library invites teens ages 12 and up to attend a free alternative fashion workshop as part of the Louisiana Teen Reading program on Friday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m.

Kerry Fitts, an artist and educator from Gretna, will lead the workshop.

Participants will learn sewing techniques using recycled materials and environmentally-friendly fabrics as well as hand silk-screened images to create original summer fashions.

Festival needs escorts, volunteers

DES ALLEMANDS - The Louisiana Catfish Queen Pageant Committee is looking for escorts for contestants.

The Louisiana Catfish Festival Miss, Teen and Granny contests will be June 14 at 7 p.m. at J.B. Martin Middle School in Paradis.

ST. ROSE - The American Legion Hall in Destrehan will hold a blood drive with Ochsner on June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hall located at 12188 River Rd. in St. Rose

Hahnville High hosts Hi-Stepper Kiddie Camp

HHS Hi-Stepper Kiddie Camp will be held Tuesday, June 17 through Friday, June 20 at Hahnville High School from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the HHS gymnasium.

The camp is open to any girl aged 4-13. The cost is $40 for the week or $10 per day and includes a camp T-shirt, awards, and refreshments.

Those who attend all four days will be invited to perform with the Hi-Steppers at the beginning of a varsity home football game.
