|Parish memorial to honor veteran names

DES ALLEMANDS - Families interested in having the name of a war veteran placed on the memorial at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands should call the Hahnville High School AFJROTC office at 985-758-1234.
The memorial dedication will be held on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
|Benefit car show set to roll this weekend

Luling - A benefit car show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. Charles Plaza in Luling.
All proceeds from the event will be used to pay the medical expenses for Alexis Revere, a 4-year-old girl who lost her hand in a lawn mower accident.
Registration will be on the day of the event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The show will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Anything on wheels will be welcomed. Food and drinks will be sold and there will be door prizes.

|Thibodaux fall fest seeks craft vendors

THIBODAUX - The Thibodauxville Fall Festival - an arts, crafts, food and music festival - will be held in historic downtown Thibodaux on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Booth space is available for arts and crafts and food vendors. All arts and crafts must be original work and hand made.

|Road to state championship begins Friday at DHS, HHS

Hahnville High School will face off against Huntington at Tiger Stadium in the team’s first playoff game of the season and Destrehan High School also play at home against West Jefferson.
After last week’s matchups, DHS remained undefeated with a 10-0 record and HHS finished to 8-2 after their win over St. Amant. Good luck to both teams parish high school in their playoff match ups.

|Firing range open to the public

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office will open their firearm range to the public for sighting in of hunting rifles on the following dates:
•Friday, Nov. 9
•Saturday, Nov. 10
The Richard H. Benoit Memorial Firearms Range is located behind the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on Highway 3127 in Killona. Take the gravel road off to the left after entering the jail parking lot.
The range hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
All shooters will need to check in with the range officer upon arrival.
The range officer will work with shooters on a first come first serve basis as space on the range permits.
Shooters should bring all necessary equipment including ammunition, eye and ear protection, paper targets and staples.
Everyone will be required to sign a release and hold harmless form prior to shooting.
Sgt. Edward Adams will supervise the shooting.

|Queen of Hearts Seeking Contestants

NORCO - The Queen of Hearts Miss, Teen, Ms. and Baby pageants will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3rd beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart School Auditorium and will coincide with the River Parishes Fall Festival being held on the grounds of Sacred Heart School in Norco on November 2nd, 3rd , and 4th.
Any single women who have never bore a child and are between the ages of 17-23, can enter. They must also reside in the state of Louisiana. The Miss entry fee is $100.00 including photogenic. The deadline to enter the Miss Division is Thursday, November 1st.
