HAHNVILLE - The St. Charles Council on Aging has released the dates for their Krewe of the Young At Heart special Mardi Gras events.
The Mardi Gras Coronation Tea is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Hahnville Center located at 626 Pine St.
The 12th Annual Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Jerusalem Shrine Temple Mosque located at 1940 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.

BATON ROUGE - The LSU AgCenter’s 2007 Poinsettia Open House is set for Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Burden Center in Baton Rouge.
The show gives growers and the public an opportunity to view the latest poinsettia varieties. More than 1,000 plants will be on display and for sale.

|Plantation celebrates holidays with gala

DESTREHAN - Join the Destrehan Plantation staff as they celebrate the holiday season with a Joyeux Noel and Grand Ball on Friday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. where dances of the early 1800s will be taught and on Saturday, Dec. 8 for a candlelight tour of the plantation.
All dancers are required to wear period costumes.

Stops include: Destrehan Plantation for a presentation and Victorian Christmas customs, the Norco Activity Center for pictures with Santa, the New Sarpy Center for a chorus performance and caroling, a view of Ormond’s Christmas lights, St. Charles Parish Hospital for a special presentation and the Luling Activity Center for cookies and cocoa and a Christmas surprise.
Tour buses meet at the east and west bank bridge parks. The tour is by reservation only.

LULING - The Title I Family Center and detective Joey Thibodeaux from the Juvenile Investigations Division of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office will hold an internet safety workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Luling Elementary School cafeteria.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide parents and communities with an understanding of the key issues associated with online child predators and how to protect your children online.

LULING - Although the Mardi Gras holiday is still a few months away, the Krewe of LUl is getting ready for the carnival season and has released their upcoming meetings.

Large float fees: $300 - pay by Dec. 5, $500 - pay by Jan. 2, 2008, $600 - pay by Jan. 16, 2008.
