DESTREHAN - The River Region Ballet will present A Nutcracker Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the East Regional LIbrary located at 100 River Oaks Dr. in Destrehan and at 11 a.m. at the West Regional Library located at 105 Lakewood Dr. in Luling.

Parish jump starts holiday season

LULING - The Rotary Club of St. Charles will host the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Dec. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

Families who attend are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy that will be donated to the St. Charles Toy and Gift Fund.
Parish President V.J. St. Pierre will attend. The Lakewood Elementary choir will perform at 6 p.m.; R.J. Ducks Unlimited hosts banquet

NORCO - The River Parishes Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is reviving with its first banquet since 2005 on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Norco at 6 p.m.
The chapter includes both the East Bank of St. Charles and St. John Parishes.

Circus comes to Houma Nov. 28

HOUMA - The Ringling Brother and Barnum and Bailey Circus will be in Houma on Nov. 28 through 30 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center located at 346 Civic Center Blvd.
Times are: Friday - 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday - 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday - I p.m. and 5 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $14 to $32 and are available through Ticketmaster or at the civic center box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Relay for Life kicks off at Vous Salon

Relay for Life of St. Charles will hold a kick-off event Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vous Salon, 153 U.S. 90 in Paradis.

Captains should sign up their teams for an early bird price of $75. Camp sites will be chosen in order of registration.

DES ALLEMANDS - St. Gertrude Catholic Church Fellowship and Family Life Ministry will sponsor an adult gala, A Night at the Movies, next month.

The event will be held Nov. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Father Mac Community Center. A wine and cheese social will be held at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

American Legion hosts blood drive

ST. ROSE - The American Legion Road Post 366 of Destrehan will sponsor a blood drive on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12188 River Rd. in connection with Ochsner Blood Bank.

All donors get a blood bank T-shirt, blood type
identification, mini-physical, cholesterol test and a blood assurance package.

Donors should eat a healthy meal prior to donation and a picture ID is required to donate.

Fire department hosts teen dance

DES ALLEMANDS - The Des Allemands Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a teen dance on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Des Allemands Fire Station located at 16960 Highway 90.

Music provided by DJ Jimmie Fish. Dance is open to ages 12 to 17.

Proof of age is required for admission. No exceptions. Parents are required to sign child out of dance.
