Ballet opens year with Nutcracker

DESTREHAN - The River Region Ballet is opening their fourteenth year of performances with the seasonal favorite “The Nutcracker.” They are presenting a full-length version of this timeless Tchaikovsky classic on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Destrehan High School located at 1 Wildcat Lane. Oldies but Goodies hosts holiday party

NORCO - The Oldies but Goodies social club is having its Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Knights of Columbus Home in Norco.

Admission is $5 per person. Bring your own liquor.
Line dancing is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. with general dancing to follow. The event is also a pot-luck with the club providing finger sandwiches.

The first 30 ladies and men to come will receive a gift. Music by DJ Gary Matherne.

Santa Claus suits up for annual Bayou Gauche Christmas Boat Parade

DES ALLEMANDS - The annual Bayou Gauche Christmas Boat Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. on Highway 306 on the Bayou Gauche Island in Des Allemands.

Anyone is welcome to enter a decorated boat for the parade. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning boat.

The parade begins at the island’s pump station and ends at Fisherman’s Wharf.
