It’s time again for the La. Catfish Festival. The 32nd Annual event will begin on July 7 and the fun will continue through July 9 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. The La. Catfish Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the state of Louisiana.

SCH II CDS to wit cocaine, resisting arrest by flight, resisting an officer, poss. of SCH I CDS to wit marijuana, SCSO attachment and a fugitive from Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at the above address on June 16. Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was stopped for suspicious person and further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of cocaine and marijuana.

With summer in full swing, Hill Heights Country Club's swim team, the Hurricanes, are hard at work practicing, swimming and competing at local swim meets. Head Coach, Nicole Matherne, says despite their recent losses she is happy with the progress of her swimmers. "We have lost our first two meets but the kids are improving with every practice and every meet. And that is what is important to me," said Matherne.
