American Legion hosts BBQ dinner

LULING - The American Legion Post #131 will hold a barbeque dinner to help support youth programs at the Legion home on Sunday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tickets are $7 and must be purchased in advance. The dinner will include barbequed chicken, baked beans, coleslaw and bread.

Book sale scheduled from June 6 & 7

HAHNVILLE - The Friends of St. Charles Parish Library will hold their summer book sale at the Book Nook on Friday June 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, Jun 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The store is located next to the Hahnville library on River Road.

Public day at the firing range

HAHNVILLE - St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne is pleased to announce that the sheriff’s office firing range will be open to the general public on Saturday, June 7 for handguns only.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m.
Safety briefings will be held at 8 a.m. and noon and will last for 30 minutes.

All participants are required to provide their own ammo, targets, safety glasses, hearing protection and baseball-type cap.

All participants must also adhere to the following rules: must be 18 years or older, must have proper identification, must attend a safety briefing, weapons must be in a gun box or holster, all guns must be unloaded upon entering the range, weapons must be left in vehicle until all paperwork and safety briefings have been completed, and all shooters must wear a holster to secure their weapon while on the premises.

Beer tasting at Lakefront Arena

NEW ORLEANS - WYES television hosts its annual International Beer Tasting where patrons can sample over 200 beers, ales, lagers and homebrews on Saturday, June 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
Ticket prices in advance: $35 per person, $30 for groups of 6 or more and seniors, plus Ticketmaster fees. Tickets are $45 at the door. Parking is free.

Kenner theatre holds auditions

KENNER - The Rivertown Repertory Theatre will hold a second round of auditions for the opening of their 2008-2009 Season of Premieres with Miss Saigon on Saturday, June 7 at 1 p.m. at the theater located at 325 Minor St.

Director Butch Caire is looking for male singers and dancers aged 16 to 45 from all ethic origins and female singers and dancers aged 16-35 of Asian heritage.

All should have good singing voices and be able to move well on stage.

Carolyn Louviere Cancer Benefit Golf Tournament set for June 6

LULING - The Carolyn Louviere Cancer Benefit Golf Tournament will be held June 6 at Willowdale Country Club in Luling.

The four-man scramble will have tee times at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The cost is $100 per person or $400 per team. Sponsorships are needed.
