We all get that one Christmas present from a distant relative, friend or co-worker that just isn't right, regardless of the child-like anticipation we felt before opening it. It’s not that we’re being ungrateful, the gift is just unwanted.

Christmas cards are wonderful but spare me the ‘newsletters’

Although it’s a lot of work, I love sending out cards, and I love receiving them. I love them all – the religious ones, the funny ones, the cutesy ones, and I especially love the ones with family photos included, but please, whatever you do, do not send me one of those dreaded Christmas newsletters.

The Ten Commandments will be displayed in the St. Charles Parish Courthouse as part of a larger display of historical documents after a resolution offered up by Councilman Snookie Fauchex passed unanimously in a regular meeting.

The Ladycat basketball team is coming off of their third Sweet 16 appearance. Last season with a veteran laden ball club the Ladycats were named Bi-District Champions and made a cameo appearance in the state semi-finals, posting an overall record of 25-8 with a 6-2-district record.

It seems like something so simple, after all it’s only a piece of paper with an emblem on it and a name of a graduate, but it represents something precious to a young man battling cancer in St. Charles Parish; it’s his wish - perhaps his dying wish - to receive his high school diploma.

Hello, goodbye, thank you and have a nice day are all acceptable salutations when greeting others, but it seems as though the closer it gets to Christmas and New Years, the more frowning faces I see. I get more silent treatments and I encounter at least one Scrooge per day.
